Santino Arturo is a Tucson based illustrator, writer. He’s also the Director of the “Secret Shop Art Collective”.
I first became a fan of hip hop when watching MTV with my brother around the age of 7 or 8. I had no interest in the genre until I saw the creativity of music videos like the Beastie Boys “Intergalactic Planetary” or Tupac’s “California Love”. Eventually I started to become more enveloped because of my step-dad. I remember hanging around parking lots with him and his friend selling their demo tapes and CDs. That left a mark on me, and now if someone’s selling their demo, I’ll always give it a listen.
